23rd Erastus – The party heads out to aide Calvin of House Mor in his quest to find the lost Temple of Chauntea and remove the curse as quest to the Cleric Jhod Kavken who removed his disease with a blessing. The travel deep into the forest and soon find the location, within the standing stones of the ruined temple all appears to be dead, no vegetation seems to grow and the water within the pool is filled with the odor of foul stale water. As the party nears the Temple they are greeted by a large, mangy and deranged looking bear. It lets out a menacing roar when it learns of the trespassers presence and charges.
The adventurers defeat the bear, upon the deathblow being struck the bear lets out an almost human sigh of relief as it shifts from bear to that of an old man who quickly withers away into dust. Instantaneously life seems to burst into the area, the water clears and the dead growths and withered bushes, flowers and trees all fill with life. Drinking the water in the pool is found to restore the energy or heal wounds and the party takes advantage of it to mend wounds caused by the deranged bear.
The party then decides to use the temple as a place to camp for the evening.
During the night watch, a party of bandits uncovers the camp site and begin to sneak in on their unsuspecting victims. They get within visible sight of the sentry and attempt to silence him with a volley of arrows. Luckily, Helm protects and Calvin is able to awaken his slumbering party members.
A bloody battle ensues in the dark and two of the parties horses become casualties as arrows fly through the night sky. The bandits having under estimated the adventurers for trappers and hunters are out matched and eventually meet justice at the sword (or Arrow).
24th of Erastus – Galendil Thalanir leads the party to try to track down the bandits horses to replace the loss of their own. Despite his best efforts they are unable to be found and its assumed they fled or fell to a predator of the forest.
25-26th of Erastus – The party searches and maps the Narlmarches, uncovering a foul smelling hot spring in the process. They then continue their exploration south, following the odd smelling river.
27th of Erastus – A dilapidated ruins just off the river is discovered, as the party approaches to investigate an odd looking frog-like humanoid emerges from the ruins and looks at the group in shock croaking out in poor common “Truce! Truce!” after a difficult attempt to communicate with the creature the group manages to determine that this area is the creatures home and that a large boar lives to the east of him.
28th of Erastus – Perlivash appears to visit the adventurers, he flutters about them talking about the smelly big pig and offers to lead the party to it for some “Shinies”. After taking his payment, the party is led to a clearing, luck would have it that the large boar seems to be still in his den, attempting to stay cool and out of the hot summer sun.
Tuskgutter gets a whiff of the group and rumbles out of his den and immediately charges toward the nearest man. 500 lbs of pig crashes into Calvin but the Paladin shrugs off the initial attempt to gore him. The party moves to surround the famed beast and hacks away as the pig flails about with no regard for whom or what its tusks make contact with. Tuskgutter is silenced when the Ranger makes a mighty blow with his greatsword cutting the head of the boar clear off and giving the adventurers the trophy required to make Vekkel happy.
They package up and attempt to get as much travelling as they can towards Oleg’s, the loss of the horses earlier proves to be an issue as they are slowed and must make camp just on the outskirts of the Narlmarch forest. During the night watch, Tyrion Blackmace is able to spot one of the fiercest and oddest monstrosities he has ever seen.
A 7 foot tall Owlbear approaches the camp site, smelling the boar head perhaps? or maybe the horses? nonetheless this creature slowly lumbers toward the camp site. Tyrion shouts out in Celestial for the party to awaken and defend themselves and battle ensues.
An intense battle with the large creature occurs for some time, eventually the creature is brought down, falling upon the poor Paladin whom he had in his razor sharp clawed grasp.
The Ranger and rogue decide to take some trophies collecting some claws and feathers from the great beast before heading back to Oleg’s with some stories to tell.
29th of Erastus – The group, weary from battle and not wanting the trophy of Tuskgutter to expire head back to Oleg’s. They spend the night and are thanked profusely by both Vekkel Benson & Jhod Kavken for assisting them in their dilemmas. Vekkel bestows his prized bow along with some arrows for hunting wild game. Jhod offers to bless the group free of charge for the remainder of his life (With the caveat of expensive spell components being paid for at least).
30th of Erastus – The group heads back out into the forest early in the day and arrives back to fully map and explore the area surrounding Tuskgutters old lair.
1st of Arodus – Another chance encounter occurs, once again during the sentry shift of Tyrion Blackmace. Perhaps the Red knight is testing the Oracles tactics. A lumbering hulk of a troll is heard splashing his way toward the campfire, and the familiar celestial cry of “Alarm” is heard from Tyrion. He mutters a blessing to the party and steps forth to intercept the creature. The party awakens yet again in a panic to grab gear and defend against yet again another fearsome foe. The Troll begins slashing and biting to devastating effect until the campsite is filled with a thick mist that obscures the vision of all.
Throughout the battle this mist is proven to be an x-factor as it causes the troll to miss on many would be devastating attacks. Both Tyrion and Calvin are nearly slain by the creature but with the blessings of the Red Knight on the parties side and some luck they manage to slowly bring the creature down. Galendil then quickly recalls that fire must be employed to prevent the beast from rising again and douses it with Alchemical Fire. Weary from yet again another dangerous battle the party rests.
2nd-4th of Arodus – Continued exploration and cartography is carried out on these days and then the group sets up camp and prepares for another long night…
